Star Trek
"Star Trek" - one that I saw a fair while ago, but I enjoyed it so much that I paid to watch it again when it came out on Sky Box Office.
I've always been a big fan of Star Trek, right from my youngest days when I watched The Original Series on our black and white television set, and have stayed loyal ever since. Indeed, Star Trek invokes the kind of loyalty that a football team does - you forgive it all kinds of vicissitudes and poor performances and even the occasional relegation, because you know that the triumphs will be glorious indeed.
What then of this latest outing? I feel that it was a last ditch effort to save the franchise from fading away, and I think it succeeds brilliantly well. It takes the big strength of Star Trek - namely the fiery and memorable characters from The Original Series - and puts them back in their younger days and into a tense action packed and effects rich story that would make The Next Generation proud. And...it strips away all the silly political correctness that latterly bogged down the series into virtual constipation.
This film makes the whole concept of Star Trek come alive again, and I look forward with eager anticipation to the "sequel"
