The Amazing Spider-man 2
It was pretty much like “The Amazing Spider Man 1”
really. I had a day originally scheduled for the cricket, so with rain falling
steadily I decided to make the best of it and see the least worst looking film
on at the Trafford Centre.
There was lots and lots of
spectacular action - good fun for the kids and the young at heart. There was a
rather sweetly sticky feeling of Disney goodness hanging over it all - but I'm
pleased to report that there was an underlying moral theme that quite chimed
with me at the moment - that of friendships betrayed. Both Spider Man and I did
nothing wrong - the difference between us is that Spider Man is a super hero and
was able to do something about it.
Spider Man's friends turned
out to be “out for themselves”, selfish and eventually not worth bothering
about. I have found out the same with one particular friend recently. Max Dylan
was a loner that nobody liked - but Spider Man befriended him. When Dylan was
turned into “Electro” by accident, he turned against Spider Man when he couldn't
immediately cure him and went on a rampage, killing lots of people and
overturning lots of trucks. Likewise, Harry Osbourne is a friend of Spider Man,
and just happens to be the owner of the company that created the virus that
gives Spider Man his special powers - like Dylan, he turns against Spider Man
when he can't instantly give him what he wants, and a similar rampage ensues.
Perhaps the moral is that friendships are important
things, that they should be carefully nurtured and that too much shouldn't be
asked too soon of people. A little less secrecy and lying would do nicely too -
Spider Man, I salute you!
