This is a common problem which has affected most of us in our time, yet the likes of Michael Fish have been strangely silent on the subject.

After all, the ferocity of Gales can be predicted with the Beaufort Scale, so why no similar scale for rain?

In answer to your prayers, the well known weather forecaster and canal walker, Mr Mark Gut (of Poulton Le Fylde) has patented his own 10 point plan, which I reproduce here, with his permission. A copy has been sent to Michael Fish, EO at the Met Office.
